Drake Progress - Oxidation

Some more progress on the Plague Drake.  I've started adding oxidation.  I've gone pretty heavy at first, I think I will tone it down a bit ... it's a WIP.

Oxidation done with Game Workshop's "Nihilakah Oxide".  I used to mix my own oxide.. it's nice that I have a consistent product now.  Thanks GW.

Drake Progress - Start of Rust Work

Some progress on the drake.
He his is with the beginnings of his rust / oxidation.

There's still a lot more to do and I'll probably have to do a 'clean up' of the undamaged armor when I'm done.. but... so far.. progress!!

Back to the Plague Drake

School's OUT!

All teachers rejoice!

Ok, I'm back to working on my Plague Drake.
I've been working on the brass trim.
So far I'm just laying down basic pigment, next will be to add some corrosion.

It's still early days, but it's coming along nicely.

Mad Doc Kitbash'ed

Done!
I tried to remove as much of the identifying Black Reach Ork Warboss as possible to achieve a more unique looking model.  I'm pretty happy with the result.

Originally I had wanted to have a 'Doc Octopus' sort of backpack for him but it was just getting too unwieldy.. so.. I toned it down.

Overall, I'm happy with how he turned out.  Now, let's slap some paint on him.

Mad Doc Build

Schools almost out and I'm beginning to find time to build and paint again.

I've started a Mad Doc Grotsnik kit-bash for my Bad Moon Boyz.

This is me ... "thinking" ... I pull out all kinds of random interesting bitz and wait for inspiration.

I'm using the Boss from the Black Vengeance boxed set as my starting point.

I was able to find a couple of Iron Gobs... I think I'm partial to the one with the tusks...

I think it'd be cool if Mad Doc had a 'Tech-Marine-Esq' harness to aid him in stitching up boyz and injecting serum.  So, I've started work on that.  The backpack is actually the Grot Scrap launcher gun that usually goes on a Killa Kan... I found it in my bitz box.  Good times.  The arms are extra Deff Dread arms..

I'm also considering adding a twin linked shoota' to the top of the power klaw... just for fun.
I'm looking at ammo options and gun possibilities.

So... lots of thoughts.  I'm excited to start modeling again.

Plague Drake Build Done (probably)

Ok.  So I think I'm done with the building part of the plague drake.  Maybe a few tweaks here and there still but mostly done.  Probably.

Anyway.  Here are some shots.
Attached the head to the neck and added some nexk damage / exposed rot to the inside.

Added boils and rot to the main body.  Added corrosion and damage to the main hull.

Work in progress shot of the underbelly with exposed rib cage.

Added corrosion and damage to the wing sections.

Currently priming black.  Updates soon (-ish)

Order - Paint and Build (some more...)

As soon as the Hell Drake was released I (as a Nurgle Player) immediately wanted to make a "Plague Drake".  Finally... my back log of models has started to thin enough that I have gotten around to starting that project.

Concept Idea
Essentially I am looking to kit-bash these two kits.. and what ever I can find in my glorious bitz box.

I don't want to simply slap some zombie dragon parts on a Hell Drake and call it a day; I want to make the Hell Drake's armor look like it has corroded down to the skeleton below ...

First thing I wanted to do was to upgrade the tail on the drake to something more substantial.  I replaced it with the tail from the Zombie Dragon and mounted the tail in the main exhaust port... a little green stuff and it fits in pretty well.

Next I started on the head.  As I mentioned I wanted to generate a corroded armor sort of feel.  I decided to build the normal Hell Drake Head and then cut away the armor and place in one of the skulls from the Zombie Dragon.  The Zombie Dragon skull is a little .... big ... but... I'm sure I can make it work.

After I was able to align the skull I started re-building the armor plating I had to cut away.  It's very much a W.I.P. at the moment but... I think it will work in the end.

Aaaaand, while waiting for green stuff to cure I started painting up

Let's see what I can accomplish today!

Deff Speederz DONE!

Phew!  Long project that I have been picking away at for months.
The speeders themselves were done about 3 weeks ago, but it took longer than I thought to receive the bases from Dragonforge.  Dragonforge is a great copany and does great work but essentially there is only so much he can do in a day.

Here are the finished Deff Speederz!
There are 6 different speederz, each one has it's own custom markings and identifying glyph.

Mek Speeder

King Speeder

 Double Down Speeder

Big Blast Speeder

Lightning Speeder

Dagger Speeder

The Whole Mob

Deff Speederz compared to GW AoBR Deff Koptas

The Deff Speederz are a little big but... I like the way they came out.
